According to reports from The Metro this morning, Manchester United are preparing a ‘transfer move’ for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

The German international is widely regarded as one of the top central midfielders in world football, having lifted the World Cup and won a Champions League title with Bayern Munich at the tender age of just 25.

He swapped the Allianz Arena for the Bernabeu last summer after Die Mannschaft’s successful campaign in Brazil and last term registered 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice.

But according to The Metro, who cite Spanish publication Fichajes, Kroos’ apparent disillusionment with his role at Real Madrid could prompt a bid from Manchester United – who were strongly linked with the playmaker’s signature before he signed for Los Blancos.

The 5 foot 11 midfielder has made five La Liga starts out of a possible six this season but may feel his position is under threat following the summer arrival of highly-rated Croatian international Mateo Kovacic.

However, The Metro and Fichajes both fail to mention whether a United bid would happen in January or the summer  – or for that matter, how much it would likely be worth.
