According to reports from The Express this afternoon, former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas could offer Radamel Falcao an escape route from his troubled spell at Stamford Bridge in January.

The Colombian international joined the west Londoners on loan during the summer as a direct replacement for Didier Drogba but has so far managed just one start and one goal in the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho preferring Diego Costa as his first-choice centre-forward.

Reports earlier this month revealed the 29 year-old is considering a request to return to parent club Monaco in January, who purchased him from Atletico Madrid for a whopping £53million in summer 2013, and The Express now claim former Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas wants to take him on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

The Zenit St. Petersburg manager tried to sign Falcao during the summer but he rejected the chance to join the Russian top flight outfit, determined to prove himself in the Premier League after scoring just four times on loan at Manchester United last season.

And it appears the Portuguese will now try again for the striker in January, in a move that would reunite him with former Porto team-mate Hulk. The duo scored 74 goals under AVB during the Dragons’ treble-winning 2011/12 campaign.
