According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Arsenal could complete a £35million deal for PSG striker Edinson Cavani by the end of the week.
The 28 year-old’s future with the Parisians has been shrouded in doubt for some time, despite joining them for a club-record £55million fee just two summers ago and going on to bag 56 goals in 96 appearances.
Indeed, the Uruguay international has made no secret of his frustrations in playing out wide to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Parisians’ first choice centre-forward and reports earlier this summer suggested he’d resultantly agreed a move to Juventus.

The Serie A switch never materialised – with the Old Lady signing Atletico Madrid’s Mario Mandzukic instead – but The Express believe Cavani could still leave the Ligue 1 champions before the close of the transfer window.
He’s been documented as a target of Arsenal and Manchester United’s for some time and the British newspaper, citing Spanish outlet Fichajes, claim the Gunners will complete a deal for the 6 foot front man by the end of the week.
It follows a lack of progress in Arsenal’s efforts to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, and Fichajes claim Arsenal will sign Cavani for around £35million.
