According to reports from The Express this morning, Manchester United have seen a £25million bid for Galatasaray No.1 Fernando Muslera rejected.
The 29 year-old is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers outside of Europe’s leading top flights, having helped Gala to three Super Lig titles – breaking the division’s record for most clean sheets in a season (19) in the process – and featured prominently for Uruguay at the last two World Cups.
He boasts 72 caps in total for his country and Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bring that international experience to Old Trafford, should David De Gea part for Real Madrid as widely expected.
Arsenal have also been linked with Muslera this summer – viewing him as a potential alternative to Petr Cech, in case Chelsea refused to sell the 33 year-old to a direct Premier League rival.
But according to The Express, who cite Turkish media outlet NTV Spor, it’s Manchester United who have made a £25million approach for the 6 foot 3 shot-stopper, only to see it flatly rejected.
Galatasaray are determined to hold onto Muslera, with the equally talismanic Felipe Melo expected to join up with Inter Milan before the end of the summer window.
