Gotze

According to reports from The Express this morning, Arsenal and Manchester United are both hoping to sign Julian Draxler and Mario Gotze in a Bundesliga double-swoop.

The Gunners have been mooted as long-term admirers of Schalke star Draxler for some time; practically ever since his 13-goal 2012/13 campaign, which saw the 21 year-old claim the Bundesliga’s Breakthrough Player of the Year award.

But according to The Express, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is now keen on the 6 foot 2 attacking midfielder as well, following the Red Devils’ laboured 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. They claim the Miners are prepared to sell for just shy of £17million.

Likewise, both clubs have been linked with Bayern Munich man Mario Gotze, who has increasingly hinted throughout the summer that he could be about to leave the Allianz Arena.

Indeed, agent Volker Struth has even claimed the 23 year-old is being ‘destroyed’ by manager Pep Guardiola, who has continually dropped Gotze for the club’s most important fixtures since becoming Bavarians boss in summer 2013.

Resultantly, a deal before the end of the transfer window is certainly possible – but The Express rate the former Borussia Dortmund talisman at a whopping £50million.
