According to reports from The Metro this afternoon, Chelsea are in talks to sign Napoli star Jose Callejon.

The prolific winger boasts an impressive return of 26 goals in 75 Serie A appearances since moving to Italy from Real Madrid in summer 2013 and was the top scorer in the Coppa Italia as the Naples outfit lifted the 2013/14 title.

Arsenal were linked with the 28 year-old earlier this month in no small part due to Napoli failing to qualify for the Champions League at the end of last season, leading to continuous speculation over the future of their biggest stars.

But last summer Callejon alleged that Chelsea gaffer Jose Mourinho, who called upon the Spain international regularly during his time as Bernabeu boss, was attempting to bring him to Stamford Bridge, telling reporters; “I have heard many things about me. I know that Mourinho wants to hire me.”

And it now appears the Premier League champions have revived their interest in the versatile 5 foot 10 attacker, with The Metro claiming they’re currently in talks with Napoli over a £10.4million deal.

Callejon had already been discussed as part of a swap deal that would see outcast winger Mohamed Salah go the other way, but they’re now negotiating a separate transfer.
