According to reports from The Daily Mail this afternoon, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has arrived in Spain to thrash out a deal for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international spent last season on loan with Southampton and played an important role in Ronald Koeman’s side finishing up with the second-best goals conceded column in the Premier League.
Deemed surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital, the former Ajax man looks set to move to the Premier League permanently, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Southampton all linked to his signature.
Last month, the 26 year-old was allegedly offered to the English champions in a swap deal involving former Mattress Maker Filipe Luis, who has managed just nine Premier League starts since joining the west Londoners from Atletico last summer.
But it appears Daniel Levy is now determined to muscle in on the potential deal and has traveled to Spain to meet with his Atletico counterpart Miguel Angel Gil.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, who also claim the Spurs chairman hopes to wrap up a transfer for the £10million rated defender this weekend.
