According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Fluminense prodigy Gerson has agreed personal terms with Barcelona.

The 18 year-old has thus far made just three league appearances for the Brazilian outfit but is already a priority transfer target for some of Europe’s top clubs.

The attacking midfielder, dubbed ‘the Brazilian Paul Pogba’, was linked to Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus in February, whilst The Express moot Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United as fellow admirers.

The Brazil U20 plays for the same club as prodigious striker Kenedy, who the English champions secured a £6.3million deal for last weekend.

But it appears neither they nor Manchester United will have such luck courting Gerson. According to The Express, who cite Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona have had a first refusal option on the 5 foot 9 attacker for some time, and were forced to activate it after Juventus launched an £11.5million bid.

How much the Catalans intend to pay remains to be seen. But Gerson is believed to have already agreed personal terms with the European champions; Barcelona director Raul Sanllehi, Fluminense representatives and Gerson’s father were spotted conversing earlier this week.

Gerson will move to the Nou Camp when Barca’s transfer embargo is lifted in January.
