2. Thomas Muller

According to reports from The Express this morning, Manchester United are willing to bid as much a £70million for Bayern Munich front-man Thomas Muller.

The 25 year-old is one of the most formidable and complete attacking threats in world football, famed for his industry, versatility and consistent supply of goals. Since his 2008 Bavarians debut, he’s amassed 121 goals in 304 appearances – including 21 strikes in all competitions last season.

The German international has also played a pivotal role in his country’s escapades at the last two World Cups, picking up the Golden Boot in 2010 and netting five times as Die Mannschaft lifted the international title in 2014.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has hinted he plans to sign a ‘surprise striker‘ before the end of the transfer window.

And according to The Express, who cite German publication Bild, the United gaffer is prepared to spend as much as £70million to bring Muller to Old Trafford.

That would decimate the club’s and the Premier League’s current record transfer fee – their £59.9million swoop for Angel Di Maria last summer.
