According to reports from talkSPORT this morning, Manchester United will launch a second bid for in-demand Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin this week.

The 25 year-old has emerged as one of the most formidable enforcers in the Premier League over the last three campaigns, finishing the 2014/15 season with the second-most tackles per-match (3.7) of any player in the division.

After nearly forcing his way out of St. Mary’s twelve months ago, Schneiderlin is almost certain to leave the south coast this summer with Arsenal, Tottenham and United all linked to his signature

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal views the France international as a long-term successor to Michael Carrick at the base of midfield, dubbing the No.6 position a ‘key role‘ back in May.

He’s already seen a £20million bid rejected for the former Strasbourg youngster, with the Saints allegedly valuing him at closer to £30million.

But on Saturday came news that United intend to increase their offer and wrap up a deal for Schneiderlin this week, and that has now been corroborated by The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, he said; “Manchester United have had one bid, of around £20m, rejected for Morgan Schneiderlin. Southampton want £30million and United are willing to go up to £25m.

“I expect them to put in another bid this week. Louis van Gaal wants to get that deal done and he will go for the right price,” he added.
