According to reports from The Metro this morning, Manchester United have confirmed Barnsley youngster Paul Digby is currently on trial at Carrington ahead of a potential transfer.
The central midfielder measures in at a whopping 6 foot 4 and has made nine league appearances for the Tykes since his debut at the start of the 2011/12 campaign. He’s in fact the fourth-youngest debutant in the club’s history, making his inaugural outing at just 16 years and 244 days old.

Now aged 20, Digby is attracting interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs. Liverpool are known admirers of the Sheffield-born starlet – who has picked up three caps for both the England U19s and U20s – but it appears Manchester United are significantly closer to signing him after successfully scheduling a trial. The midfielder featured in the development squad’s 1-1 draw with Stockport County yesterday afternoon.
The trial deal is likely linked to the Red Devils sending two of their most exciting youngsters out on loan to Oakwell earlier this month – midfield duo Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell.
