According to reports from the London Evening Standard yesterday afternoon, Stuttgart centre-back Antonio Rudiger will snub a move to the Premier League this summer in favour of joining Wolfsburg.
The 22 year-old has performed well since moving to the Mercedes Benz Arena from the Borussia Dortmund academy in 2008, going on to make 66 Bundesliga appearances, and his rise has attracted interest from the Premier League.
Manchester United are known long-term admirers and allegedly launched an inquiry into his availability last summer, whilst Chelsea were linked with a £13m bid earlier this week.
Previously, it was claimed the German international had told brother and agent Sahr Senesie to do everything in his power to broker a deal with the Premier League champions.
But according to The Standard, agent Senesie has now suggested Rudiger would prefer to stay in the Bundesliga, with Wolfsburg reportedly courting his services.
“I know of interest from Wolfsburg and Chelsea. Antonio would prefer to stay in Germany,” he told German publication Kicker.
The Standard claim the prodigious defender has already agreed personal terms with Die Wolfe, who finished second in the Bundesliga last season.
But there’s still a dispute over price, with Stuttgart valuing Rudiger at just shy of £13million.
