Nicolas Otamendi

According to reports from The Daily Star this afternoon, agent Eugenio Lopez has rubbished reports claiming Nicolas Otamendi will move to Real Madrid this summer.

The Argentina international has just come to the end of a formidable campaign at Valencia, netting six times in 35 La Liga appearances whilst averaging 2.9 tackles, 3.1 interceptions, 7.3 clearances and 3.5 successful aerial duels per match.

That’s triggered interest from Premier League title contenders Manchester City and Manchester United, whilst La Liga giants Real Madrid were also linked with the 27 year-old last month.

He’s allegedly being eyed as a potential replacement for Sergio Ramos – who is also in line for a summer move to Manchester.

According to The Star, however, the 6 foot defender’s agent has claimed Otamendi won’t be moving to the Bernabeu during the current transfer window.

“Before Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid – if he does leave – Otamendi will be already playing for another club,” the British tabloid quote Eugenio Lopez as say.

The news will undoubtedly be a boost to both Manchester outfits, but Valencia remain adamant any suitor must activate the former Porto star’s £35million release clause.
