Arda Turan

According to reports from Sky Sports yesterday evening, Barcelona have signed Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan in a €34million deal.

Agent Ahmet Bulut recently revealed the 28 year-old’s desire to leave Vincente Calderon this summer, with ‘three clubs… the best in English and European football’ allegedly courting his services.

The clubs in question were believed to be Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona. Some sources even claimed the Red Devils had met Turan’s £29million release clause only to discover he was holding out for an offer from the Premier League champions – a scenario which seemed all the more likely after former Mattress Maker Diego Costa declared it would be ‘fantastic‘ to have the Turkey skipper at Stamford Bridge next season.

Despite initially insisting otherwise, however, the 28 year-old has now agreed a move to the Nou Camp at the cost of €34million, plus another potential €7million in add-ons.

Turan has agreed a five-year deal, but due to Barcelona’s transfer embargo he won’t be able to represent the senior side until January 1st.

He’s a great player but lacks pace. Unless they get more for Pedro, I don’t think its a great move.
