According to reports from the Leicester Mercury earlier this week, in-demand Leicester City starlet Jeffrey Schlupp has entered negotiations over an improved contract at the King Power Stadium.
The 22 year-old utility man impressed as the Foxes staved off relegation last season, bagging three goals and two assists in 32 Premier League appearances to claim the club’s Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
He’s shown considerable progress on the international scene too, with six caps and one goal for Ghana over the last two years, and is famed for his versatility, having begun his career as a centre-forward but since emerged as a regular option at left-back and left midfield for Nigel Pearson.
That combination has seen Schlupp linked to some of the Premier League’s top clubs. According to prior reports from the Leicester Mercury, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United have all been weighing up moves for the left-footer, with the Gunners particularly keen on a £5million deal.
But the Foxes intend to put to bed all speculation by agreeing extended terms with Schlupp. His current deal expires at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
