According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday evening, in-demand striker Mauro Icardi has ended speculation of a summer move to the Premier League by signing a four-year deal with Inter Milan.
The 22 year-old was in sensational form this season to bag 22 goals in 36 Serie A appearances – making him the division’s joint-top scorer alongside former Bayern Munich star Luca Toni, now of Hellas Verona.
That brings the Argentina international’s total for the San Siro outfit to 36 goals in 71 appearances, which has attracted plenty of attention from the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
As This Is Futbol revealed in May, Chelsea and Manchester United were both linked to the 5 foot 11 striker as contract negotiations stalled in Milan, whilst The Daily Star have mooted Liverpool as potential suitors.

But for the coming transfer window at least, Icardi will be staying put at Inter Milan – despite their failure to qualify for European football next season after finishing in eighth place.
Earlier this week, the former Sampdoria striker told Sky Sport Italia (as quoted by The Daily Star); “Everybody wants to play in Europe, but I’m happy here with Inter.
“I hope we can keep getting better and the club are working on building an even more competitive squad next season.
“I’ve always said that I want to stay with Inter. My contract renewal’s not so straightforward, but we are working on it and I’m confident. I think there will be more news in the coming week.
“Hopefully we will reach a point where we can sign and all be more relaxed about things. We will sort it all out soon, at the latest after the holidays.”
