Callum Wilson (2)

According to reports from Mirror Football this morning, Tottenham are leading the ten-club race to sign Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, with London rivals West Ham also known admirers.

The 23 year-old is amid an incredible rise up the English Football pyramid; last season, he bagged 21 goals for Coventry City in League 1; this season, he’s fired Bournemouth to the top flight with 19 Championship goals; and next season, be it with The Cherries or one of his rumoured suitors, he’s destined to feature in the Premier League.

According to Mirror Football, Spurs have been scouting the former England U21, who scored four goals in his last six second tier outings, for some time – viewing him as an ideal replacement for goal-shy duo Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor, who are almost certain to leave White Hart Lane this summer.

But they face considerable competition for his signature; along with known admirers West Ham, eight more Premier League clubs want to sign the Bournemouth ace this summer – as claimed in a separate report from Mirror Football last month – namely Southampton, Swansea, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Hull, Sunderland, Aston Villa and QPR.

Whether Eddie Howe’s side would actually cash-in on their top goalscorer upon promotion to the top flight remains to be seen.
