According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Liverpool are set to launch a £10million bid for QPR striker Charlie Austin.
The 25 year-old’s 17 goals last season fired the west Londoners to promotion from the Championship, but he’s already matched that total this year in just 32 appearances, whilst also picking up four assists, ranking him fourth in the Premier League’s scoring charts.
That makes him the second-top-scoring Englishman in the league this year, after Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
As This Is Futbol revealed last month, Everton, Newcastle and Southampton are all considering summer bids for the former Swindon Town and Burnley front-man. Mirror Football have claimed QPR will sell even if they defy the odds to stave off relegation this season.
But The Star have revealed that Liverpool are now courting Austin’s signature as well. Brendan Rodgers is keen to reshuffle a four-man strike-force that have scored just eight Premier League goals between them this season and the Rangers forward is seen as a potential solution.
Give me one reason why he would want Newcastle for any other club. None right case settled.
