According to reports The Daily Mail yesterday evening, Liverpool are considering a summer bid for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

With Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge netting just eight Premier League goals between them this season, Brendan Rodgers is expected to reshuffle his strike force this summer – and reportedly views signing the City star as an important step in that process.

Despite often playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero and for large parts of his Etihad career resultantly featuring from the bench, the Bosnian international boasts 71 goals 185 appearances for the Citizens in all competitions – including 16 league goals last season, which proved vital in securing his club a second Premier League title.

That lead Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to claim the 29 year-old should have won the PFA Player of the Year award for 2013/14 – as reported by BBC Sport last May – and the west London outfit are also believed to be plotting a summer bid for the 6 foot 4 target man, as Mirror Football reported earlier this week.

There appears to be some discrepancy over price-tag, however. Mirror Football believe City will sell Dzeko for just £10million this summer, having previously failed to find a suitor at £15million despite interest from Juventus, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg. The Daily Mail, on the other hand, value the towering striker at £25million, due to the three years remaining on his contract.
