Goalkeeper - Petr Cech

According to reports from The Metro this afternoon, Arsene Wenger has denied Arsenal will bid for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech this summer.

The Czech international is widely viewed as one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history, boasting three (almost four) league titles, the 2012 Champions League title and nearly 500 appearances for the Blues, but has found himself stuck behind prodigious No.1 Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order this season.

Consequentially, he’s expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and Arsenal and Liverpool are considered to be his likeliest suitors – as This Is Futbol revealed last month.

But the Gunners gaffer has now denied the north Londoners will pursue the 32 year-old this summer, instead insisting he’s more than happy with current goalkeeping options Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina.

“Look, I believe in the goalkeepers I have,” said Wenger. “I believe that [Wojciech] Szczesny is a very good goalkeeper and [David] Ospina has come in and done a fantastic job.

“You look at the numbers in the Premier League and who is top of all the goalkeepers and you will see it is Ospina,” he added.

Le Professeur certainly has a point; Opsina has conceded just seven times in 13 Premier League appearances this term, also keeping seven clean sheets.
