Man United in ‘advanced talks’ with prodigious Liverpool target

Danny Ings

According to reports from talkSPORT this afternoon, Manchester United are in ‘advanced talks’ with Burnley striker and Liverpool target Danny Ings.

The 23 year-old’s influence has waned in recent weeks but a return of nine goals and four assists in 31 league appearances has attracted attention from the Premier League’s top order – as well as David Moyes’ Real Sociedad outfit.

Home-grown talent is becoming more important than ever in the Premier League, with FA chairman Greg Dyke hoping to increase the quota from eight to twelve players over the course of the next few years – as reported by The Guardian last month.

And the England U21 finds himself in the rather unique situation of being available for just £5million this summer through a compensation agreement, having decided not to extend his Turf Moor contract past the end of the campaign.

As This Is Futbol revealed in April, Burnley have often denied rumours claiming Ings is already in negotiations with other Premier League clubs – but today’s news suggests talks with United have been ongoing for some time.
