According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday afternoon, Southampton have given Chelsea and Manchester United target Nathaniel Clyne ten days to decide his future at the club.

The 23 year-old right-back has been in fantastic form this season, averaging the third-most tackles per match, 3.5, of any Premier League player whilst netting twice in 31 league appearances, as part of a Saints defence boasting the healthiest goals conceded column in the division.

That’s seen him emerge as Roy Hodgson’s preferred choice of No.2 within the England fold and draw attention from some of the Premier League’s top clubs – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this week – further enticed by the Three Lions starlet verging upon the final year of his St. Mary’s contract.

Manager Ronald Koeman wants Clyne to sign a new deal, but revealed the club will only give him ten days to accept their latest contract offer before they become obliged to sell.

“We’re still speaking with Clyney and his agent, but of course we have to know in 10 days” Koeman said. “The club is doing an offer the maximum what we can do and then we expect the player’s answer.”

“I’ve spoken to Clyney, he’s very happy and of course there is some interest but nobody has really bid for the player. All the players are happy with how the team is doing.

“But it’s football, you never know. In football if you go in your last season of contract, we don’t like that,” he added.
