According to reports from The Telegraph this afternoon, Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is keen to join Premier League champions Chelsea this summer.
The France international only moved to Vincente Calderon at the start of the season in a £24million deal, following a talismanic five years at Real Sociedad which saw La Real rise from the Spanish second tier to the Champions League.
But the 24 year-old’s superlative run of 25 goals in 51 appearances this term has attracted the attention of long-term admirers Chelsea, whilst Arsenal and Manchester United have been mooted as potential suitors by The Daily Star.
The Atletico contract Griezmann penned last summer, despite being of a six-year duration, included a release clause of £43million – which Chelsea are now considering activating.
According to The Telegraph, the prolific winger-forward would be interested in a summer move to Stamford Bridge – but he intends on waiting until Chelsea make a formal bid before deciding on his future.
The deal would likely see left-back Filipe Luis move the other way. Chelsea signed the 29 year-old from Atletico last summer, but he’s gone on to make just seven starts in the Premier League.
