According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday evening, Premier League trio Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United will go head-to-head for the services of Real Madrid star Karim Benzema this summer.

The France international boasts 133 goals in 279 appearances for the European champions and over the last five years has proved an effective counterweight to three-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

But he’s now 27 years of age and Real Madrid reportedly want to cash-in whilst the 6 foot 2 front-man’s value is at its highest – with four terms remaining on a contract extension signed last summer, as reported by Sky Sports in August.

They want to replace him with a younger, more prolific forward according to The Star, who also claim Los Blancos will sell Benzema for the not so ridiculous price of £40million.

That’s reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. Arsene Wenger is a known fan of his free-scoring countryman, whilst Liverpool and United are both expected to reshuffle their strike-forces in the coming transfer window.
