According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Tottenham have slapped Manchester United target Hugo Lloris with a £40million price-tag.
The France international has enjoyed consistently strong form since moving to White Hart Lane in summer 2012, this season making the most saves of any goalkeeper, 79, in the Premier League’s top seven whilst recording six clean sheets in 31 top flight outings.
Manchester United view him as a viable replacement to PFA Player of the Year award nominee David De Gea, who could be snapped up by European champions Real Madrid this summer – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month.
It was recently claimed Lloris’ Spurs contract included a £14million release clause for Champions League clubs, but such rumours have since been revealed as false – as reported by The Metro.
And now Spurs have gone one step further, valuing their 28 year-old No.1 at a whopping £40million.
Whether that forces Manchester United to consider alternative targets remains to be seen. Chelsea’s Petr Cech, for example, could be available for just £10million this summer – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month.
