According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, rumoured Liverpool target Theo Walcott will begin talks to extend his contract at Arsenal within the next few weeks.
As This Is Futbol informed you last week, the England winger’s current 90k per-week contract is on the verge of entering it’s final year, which has triggered interest from Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers – with some tabloids even speculating a swap deal involving Liverpool’s own contractually rebellious wide-man Raheem Sterling.
Arsene Wenger told beIN Sport during the recent international break that negotiations were already ongoing, as reported by ESPN, and Mirror Football’s recent claims confirm official talks will be held before the end of the season.
The predominant issue for Walcott will be game time; he’s made just three starts in the Premier League this year and is yet to claim a regular starting role over Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez in the Gunners’ attacking midfield berth.
Injuries, however, have been a significant factor.
