Zlatan Ibrahimovic

According to reports from The Metro this morning, Liverpool are plotting an audacious £18.1million swoop for PSG’s enigmatic front-man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Sweden international, amongst other things, is famed for winning a domestic title in all but one of 14 seasons since leaving FC Malmo in 2001, spanning the Eredivisie, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1, and claiming the 2013 Puskas Award for his incredible overhead kick against England.

After agent Mino Raiola revealed his uncertainty regarding the 33 year-old’s future at Parc de Princes in March, The Daily Star linked him with a potential move to Chelsea.

But The Metro now claim Liverpool to be the more proactive party in pursuing Ibrahimovic, mooting an £18.1million summer bid from the Anfield outfit.

It follows news of PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi ruling out the sale of team-mate Edinson Cavani this summer, despite being linked to Manchester United and Arsenal earlier this month – as reported by us at This Is Futbol.

With just one year remaining on his contract, it’s believed the Ligue 1 champions are prepared to part with Ibrahimovic instead.
