Dani Alves

As This Is Futbol informed you yesterday, reports from The Express claimed Barcelona star Dani Alves, linked with summer moves to Liverpool and Manchester United, had been offered a new contract at the Nou Camp.

The Brazil international’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and his agent revealed in March that no less than seven clubs were keen to take him off the Catalan outfit’s hands – as reported by The Daily Mail. Two of those clubs are believed to be the Premier League’s northwest giants, who are targeting a bosman deal for the 31 year-old.

Today however, comes confirmation that Alves, a four-time La Liga winner and two-time Champions League winner, has indeed been offered a contract extension – as reported by The Daily Mail once again.

Agent Dinorah Santana has informed the Spanish press; “On Monday, I had a meeting with [director] Javier Bordad. On Wednesday I have had the second meeting. I have already received an offer [for a new contract], although I can’t say if I am happy or not [with it].There will be more meetings. They told me they will call me to arrange the next one.”

Although Alves appears keen to attempt a new challenge before the end of his career, Barcelona’s transfer embargo means they won’t be able to sign a replacement for the Brazilian until 2016. They’re hoping they can now convince him to stay on at the Nou Camp until at least next January.
