Manchester-United-v-TottenhamIts squeaky bum time as we’ve arrived at the business end of arguably the most exciting league on the planet. Unsurprisingly, the competition for a place in the top four has heated up with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Spurs at it.

Manchester United have a mountain to climb in the upcoming weeks with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal awaiting them. They desperately need their assortment of world class stars to deliver when it matters the most and that’s now.

Each challenger in this top four race is superior to Manchester United in the attacking department on current form. Remarkably, it is the defence where United have an edge over rest of the pack and that clearly is due to David De Gea.

A quick glance at the stats justifies this notion that David De Gea is not someone to be moved easily.

He makes all sorts of awe inspiring saves to ensure Manchester United leak fewer goals in contrast to their rivals for the Champions League berth.

With such proficient attacking units to face, United would have to be defensively solid to stand a chance of holding onto their Champions League spot. Sanity suggests Manchester United may have to go another year outside of the European elite, given their upcoming fixtures list and the sort of form those teams are currently in.

But it all depends on one man, De Gea. He has proven to be one of the world’s best in his position throughout the season and may well make the biggest save for Manchester United by carrying them into the Champions League on his own.

Let’s just hope that Real Madrid don’t come knocking in the summer.
