Are Arsenal responsible for Aaron Ramsey’s injury woes?

Aaron Ramsey 1Aaron Ramsey is a man who seems to be famous for his injury problems. I’m sure you’ll remember the Ryan Shawcross horror tackle that almost ended his career. It took him years to make his way back from that particular injury.

Once his convalescence was over, he began to show Arsenal fans what he was capable of. Last season he scored a huge amount of goals and established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Unfortunately for the Welshman, injury problems have resurfaced this year. He’s been ruled out of action three times this season thanks to hamstring problems, with the latest tweak happening during The Gunners’ 2-1 win over Leicester City.

This has caused former Wales assistant manager Raymond Verheijen to speak out about the training regime at Arsenal. Check out his bizarre comments here:

“There are two solutions. Either Arsenal sort themselves out or Aaron has to go to a club… where training is more balanced. It’s one or the other. The medical staff can only cure the problem but football coaches cause the problem because they are responsible for football training sessions.”

Arsene Wenger, on the other hand, has pointed out that there’s no clearly defined reason for Aaron Ramsey’s injury problems. It’s something that just seems to happen. Check out his comments here:

“We haven’t found the reason, the underlying reason. There is an underlying reason, certainly, medical or bio-mechanical. But there’s no obvious reason why he should have muscular problems. We have the highest training for the players and preventions for the players and I don’t think that is any special case that has been neglected.” (Source: The Metro)

Arsenal have a bad reputation when it comes to injuries, but it’s somewhat foolhardy to point the finger at the club’s coaching staff. I’d sooner blame that Ryan Shawcross tackle and the effect that it’s had on the player’s career.

Aaron Ramsey is regarded as one of the fittest players in Arsenal’s squad. If Arsene Wenger’s other players aren’t suffering from similar issues (as usual, The Gunners have had their fair share of injuries this season, but most of them have been impact related), then how has Verheijen arrived at his conclusion?

Ramsey’s injury problems are troubling, that’s for sure, but they’re not an excuse to start criticising Arsenal football club.

What’s your take? Who or what is to blame for Aaron Ramsey’s inability to stay fully-fit?
