Paco Alcacer (Valencia)Now that we’re smack-bang in the middle of the January transfer window, The Reds continue to pick up links to exciting attacking players. It’s going to be interesting to see how many of these rumours are based on some kind of truth and how many are a complete fabrication.

Either way, it’s fairly clear that Liverpool need to sign some attacking footballers in the near future. After all, this is one area where they’ve come up seriously short. With Mario Balotelli not producing the goods (and proving to be a massive let down) and Daniel Sturridge out injured, a lot of pressure has been heaped on Raheem Sterling’s shoulders.

The England international has handled the situation well, but he needs some more support. He shouldn’t be his club’s main man at this stage in his career.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that The Reds are preparing a £14.1m bid for Valencia’s star striker, Paco Alcacer. The Spaniard is also pretty young (he’s just 21-years-old), but he’ll provide some major competition for the likes of Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge.

Alcacer has had an excellent start to the season, scoring ten goals and notching four assists. He’s even earned a call up to the Spanish international team. He’s certainly one to watch. It wouldn’t surprise me if The Reds wanted to get in on the bottom floor, before he becomes a real household name.

The youngster’s Valencia contract will expire in the summer and it’s not clear whether he’s ready and willing to sign a new deal. Either way, there’s a £14.1m release clause written into his current contract and it looks like Brendan Rodgers and co. are willing to trigger it.

If that’s the case, his current paymasters will have little choice but to sell up. I’m personally looking forward to Paco Alcacer throwing on a Liverpool shirt and strutting his stuff in the Premier League. Let’s hope that The Reds are able to drag this deal across the line.

What’s your take? Is Paco Alcacer the answer for The Reds?

these rumours are based on no kind of truth at all and are all a complete fabrication, end of story.

Liverpool will not be signing anyone in this window as they have been trying to tell the corrupt lying UK media.
