With The Reds on the hunt for a new (more effective) centre-forward, there’s one name that stands out to me, head and shoulders above the other players that they’ve been linked to: Saido Berahino.
The West Brom ace has it all: he’s lightning quick, he’s got excellent technique, he’s a smart cookie and he seems to be a natural goal-scorer. Better still, he fits neatly into Brendan Rodgers’ youth plan. He’s 21-years-old and he’s got a huge future ahead of him.
As it happens, the player recently spoke out about his future. Here’s what he had to say, via The Express:
‘I’m playing, I can’t complain. I’m starting to score goals again, which I’m enjoying. That’s as far as it goes.’
That’s as far as it goes, is it? Is he really enjoying his goal-scoring exploits? Then why doesn’t he celebrate when he scores? Why does he seem to be such a dour gentleman? He continues:
‘Obviously I’ve got big ambitions, but at the moment I’m a West Brom player and I’m enjoying my football. There are always rumours going around, but I can’t control anything. The only thing I can control is what I do on the field.’
The comment about ‘big ambitions’ strikes me as a hint that his long-term future won’t be with The Baggies. I’m sure he’ll want to end up somewhere that can offer him Champions League action. The question is this: how long is he prepared to wait?
If Liverpool come knocking, would he be tempted to move straight away? Perhaps. After all, it’s not like his game-time would be limited at Anfield. Brendan Rodgers desperately needs more options in this area of the pitch. Somebody needs to show Mario Balotelli how it’s done.
Berahino has scored 14 goals in 25 games this season, which is an excellent return for a young player. I’d argue that he’s ready for a step up in class. The Telegraph claim that this West Brom starlet could cost £25m. Let’s hope that The Reds are ready to cough up the cash.
What’s your take? Is Saido Berahino the right man for The Reds?

I like Berahino but not at the £25m that West Brom are asking. I would pay £15m upfront then with add ons depending on goals, top 4 etc could go up to £20m.
That or we see if we have some squad or academy players that could move over on loan with wages paid, similar to Wisdom being there are the moment.
Would suit Liverpool regarding quality potential, giving our younger players much needed experience and FFP, would suit West Brom as gives them cash to spend, additional quality and youth for Pulis to work with and lowers their outgoings.

What about the 4 year contract he signed last season it’s not just about what he wants it’s also about what the club wish to do
This is a typical arrogant Liverpool nonsense article why do you consider Liverpool a big club Man Utd Chelsea Mancity Arsenal Newcastle in this country alone are all bigger than Liverpool before we consider the reast of Europe
How can you offer champions league last time I looked Liverpool were sitting out side a champions league position
Ok BR can buy saido Barahino,nt bad,bt nt aworld clas player.BR 2 luk 4 diz players 4 de seck of top 4.no(1alexandre lucazette, benzema, cavani n jackson martinez)BR N LFC OWNERS john w.henry FSG r westing they av even bought already atleast one or 2players especialy forword.lucazette n benzema.n let BORINI,lambert, allen, johnson n mingilote alloff them out sell fools out.
As i can understand Berahino wants to move to LFC or may be even spurs … I say if BR thinks he needs another striker better than balo borini and lambert and Berahino is better than them …. then bid 10 mil … rising to 12 at max… see what happens … player might even put a request formally… if WBA then agrees to sell ok… go for it … If tottu spur come with more money they can have him … My call is not to buy him .. if u do then for not more than 12 mil…
I watch Berahino every week and through a contact I also have a little insight into his off field antics.
He’s a talented boy (though not lightening quick as you state) but has a lot to learn. Whether he’s willing to do so is another matter. He is apparently incredibly arrogant to the point of upsetting every dressing room he’s ever been in (this was apparently noted at the England camp too). He also likes to party; the stories you see in the press merely scratch the surface.
He’d be wise to stay at WBA for another season in order to progress out of the spotlight.
The big clubs do these things with smaller club players …. though Liverpool have lost that ability quite a bit but thats the utter truth … if now RM came with a massive bid for sterling or even a , moderate one and he wants to leave then even LFC would’ve no choice but let him go…. For Berahino 12 mil is my price but even then i’ll agree with….. #Shaun Martin……
