Does this prove that this £50m talent is on his way to Arsenal?

Edinson CavaniRather surprisingly, The Gunners keep picking up links to Paris Saint Germain’s star striker, Edinson Cavani. The man is thought to have a mammoth price-tag (The Metro suggest that he may cost as much as £50m) which would usually price Arsenal out of the market.

And yet the rumours persist. Arsene Wenger has been a little more flexible in recent times. Just look at his big money deals for players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Perhaps The Professor has been buoyed by how successful Sanchez has been at The Emirates. Maybe he believes that Alexis Sanchez and Edinson Cavani have enough about them to lead Arsenal to success in the Premier League?

There’s plenty to like about Cavani. He’s hard-working, he’s physically tough and he’s difficult to shrug off the ball. More importantly, however, he’s a natural goal-scorer. In that regard, he’s one of the best in world football. Whilst the Uruguayan was with Napoli he managed to score 104 goals in 138 games. This hasn’t stopped since his move to Paris, where he’s found the back of the net 38 times in 65 games.

It’s easy to see why Arsenal might be interested, even with his extortionate price-tag.

The Metro carry with it more good news for Arsenal fans. They carry quotes from PSG’s website about their player’s training schedule: ‘Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian players David Luiz, Marquinhos, Maxwell, Thiago Silva and Lucas arrived, as expected, on Sunday evening in Marrakech and were present at training this morning. Javier Pastore rejoins his teammates this afternoon, while Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi resume training back in Paris.’

The fact that Edinson Cavani and Javier Pastore (both of who have been linked with moves away in recent months) haven’t turned up to the training camp in Morocco has proven to be rather suspicious for some. Perhaps this duo are gearing up for January moves?

Arsenal fans will certainly hope so. There’s no telling how big an impact a player like Cavani could have at The Emirates. Even if he costs a fortune, he’ll prove to be a key signing for The Gunners.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be willing to spend big on Edinson Cavani?
