Krystian BielikNot so long ago, The Gunners looked to be close to securing a deal for Polish prodigy and Legia Warsaw star, Krystian Bielik. The defensive midfielder is remarkably strong for his age, but more importantly, he’s s smart cookie who knows where to position himself and what to do when the going gets tough.

He’s only 16-years-old, so he’s not necessarily ready for immediate Premier League action, but he does look like one for the future. Given that he’s previously been compared to Patrick Viera, it’s easy to see why he’s picking up links to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger will be looking for a defensive midfielder who can make an immediate impact on his squad (by replacing the aging Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta).Bielik probably isn’t up to the task, but he’s not going to break the bank either. The Metro claim that he could be available for £1.6m, which is a small sum for a player with so much potential.

Whilst he grows and develops, Arsenal can use their current options to fill in. Then, when he’s ready, he can start in their stead. It’s not a perfect plan, but it may well pay dividends in the long run.

Unfortunately, things may not be that easy for The Gunners. A recent article published by The Metro claims that Roma are looking to steal a march in the battle to sign Krystian Bielik. The source suggests that Arsenal are still in ‘pole position’, but notes that Arsene Wenger will need to ‘move quickly’ if he’s to seal this particular deal.

£1.6m is a small enough fee that The Gunners can afford to shell it out without too much thought or consideration for the consequences. Roma probably won’t struggle either. As a result, it’s going to be interesting to watch this one play out. Who knows where this Polish talent is going to end up.

What’s your take? What does the future hold for Krystian Bielik? Would he be a good option for Arsenal?
