Edinson CavaniArsenal fans will have been thoroughly disappointed by what they’ve seen their team offer up this season. Alexis Sanchez aside, there have been very few bright spots. Results against Anderlecht, Swansea City, Manchester United and now Stoke City rank as some of the worst in recent memory. With the club’s defense in tatters, Arsene Wenger doesn’t seem to know how he can fix the problems that he’s helped to create.

If only Arsene Wenger had spent a little more cash in the summer transfer window. The Gunners find themselves in the same position they’ve been in every year for the last decade or so: they’re two or three bodies short.

It’ll be interesting to see how Arsene Wenger reacts in the summer transfer window. Will he stick with what he’s got and hope things get back on track or will he spend some cash in the hope that he can find a proper solution?

Let’s hope that he picks the latter option. Indeed, according to The Metro, The Gunners are still in the market to sign Paris Saint Germain’s star striker, Edinson Cavani. But wait, there’s more. The source claims that the Uruguayan is keen on the move and is even willing to ask his club to lower their asking price in order to force a deal through. That strikes me as a decent signal of intent.

It’s thought that Cavani has grown increasingly frustrated with living in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shadow in Paris. He’s scored 12 goals in 22 appearances this season but probably could’ve grabbed even more if he weren’t played out wide whenever Ibra is fully fit. His goal-scoring record from his time at Napoli suggests that he’s got a lot more in him. He’s a natural.

If Arsene Wenger can sign him for under £50m, he’ll have pulled off a major deal. Then The Gunners will have two world-class attackers to play with. If they follow up this deal with a couple of new defenders then who knows what they’ll be capable of?

What’s your take? Could Edinson Cavani really end up at The Emirates in the near future?
