ReusIn a season where many fans expected Liverpool to kick on and start challenging for silverware, Brendan Rodgers’ boys have thus far been pretty disappointing. Without Luis Suarez leading their line, they’re a lot less effective.

Sure, Daniel Sturridge should have been able to make the step up, but he’s been sidelined with a niggly injury issue. Unfortunately, Mario Balotelli, his replacement, hasn’t been able to make the step up (though there were some encouraging signs in the last round of the Capital One Cup).

The Reds need somebody to spark them into life. They need a major talent in their squad on a similar level to Luis Suarez. Raheem Sterling could well be that man in the future, but he’s not quite there yet. The Reds can either be patient, or they can go out into the transfer market and bring somebody in.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Liverpool have  a ‘clear path’ to sign Borussia Dortmund’s world-class wing-man, Marco Reus.

The German ace has rejected his club’s offers of a contract extension and it now looks like he’ll be leaving sooner rather than later. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up. In particular, it’ll be interesting to see whether Liverpool have what it takes to close the deal.

Just look at the man’s record. Despite playing down the flanks, Reus has managed to find the back of the net 45 times in 96 appearances. He’s super effective in the final third and he can be an absolute nightmare for defenders to deal with. He’s fast and he’s technically proficient, so he’s sure to make an impact in the Premier League.

The aforementioned source claims that ‘£32m would be enough to get Reus’. That’s a lot of money, but given the man’s quality, it seems like a price worth paying. If it gets The Reds back into the big time, Brendan Rodgers and co. won’t have any regrets.

What’s your take? Could Liverpool really seal a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus?

That would be a fantastic signing but Liverpool seem not to be serious when they to sign world class players. Just look at what happened with willian, mkhitaryan,Matic, Diego Costa the list is endless.

I think that FSG should give BR some money to spend in January to buy Reus, Isco and Higuain so that we can be in the Top 4 and we can compete in the CL next season as our players are not enough mature and for Stevie we should not let him go as he is a role model for the youngsters
