CavaniMost fans weren’t expecting it, but The Gunners move for ex-Manchester United star Danny Welbeck has proven to be hugely beneficial for just about everybody involved.

Welbeck has had an opportunity to re-ignite his career, whilst Arsenal have finally got their hands on a striker with pace, fight and goal-scoring nous. He’s like a combination of both Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, which can only be a good thing for The Gunners.

Still, I can’t help but feel that Arsenal could do better. They still lack a world class striker who’s capable of turning a game on its head. Just look at how Diego Costa has transformed Chelsea. Imagine what The Gunners could achieve if they had a player with that much quality in their ranks.

This brings me to The Express‘s claim that Paris Saint Germain star, Edinson Cavani is willing to listen to offers from both Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer. If this is true, it’s excellent news for The Gunners.

Of course, even if Edinson Cavani would be willing to move to The Emirates, that’s still no guarantee that Arsene Wenger would be willing to cover his price-tag. The Uruguayan ace isn’t come to come cheap after all. Indeed, the aforementioned source claims that Cavani could cost as much as £55m. In other words, The Gunners would have to smash their transfer record (the £42.4m they spent on Mesut Ozil) to make a deal happen.

Cavani is certainly worth the investment. Since moving to PSG, he’s found the back of the net 29 times in 51 games. Back at Napoli he scored 104 goals in 138 games. His goal-scoring ability is beyond question.

There’s been some suggestion that Edinson Cavani is dissatisfied with his current role in the French capital. He’s very much in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG, but he deserves a central role. He’d get this at Arsenal and then some. Fingers crossed he gets this opportunity and that Arsene Wenger is willing to spend big bolstering his attacking line-up once again.

What’s your take? Could The Gunners really wrap up a deal for Edinson Cavani this January?
