Should Manchester United swap Marouane Fellaini for Seamus Coleman?

ColemanManchester United’s defense has come under a lot of scrutiny this season. Unfortunately, The Red Devils are lacking in both quantity and quality in this part of the pitch. For a top club, with a top manager and plenty of impressive attacking talent, it’s all a little unfortunate.

If United had a more balanced side, they’d probably be title contenders this season (they’ve certainly got enough firepower to force themselves into contention). Instead, it looks like they’ll be treading water for another year. It’s a fairly costly mistake on the part of Louis Van Gaal and co.

With all this in mind, there’s a good chance that Van Gaal will use the January transfer market to bring in some fresh-faced defensive recruits. Who he brings in, on the other hand, is anybody’s guess.

According to The Express, Van Gaal is keen to bring Everton right-back, Seamus Coleman to Old Trafford. Is The Dutchman following in David Moyes’ footsteps by showing interest in just about every half-decent Evertonian?

Interestingly enough, the source suggests that a swap deal could be on the cards, with Coleman heading to Manchester United and Marouane Fellaini going in the other direction.

Everton fans will know Marouane Fellaini well from the five years that he spent at Goodison Park. He may not have been a hit at Manchester United (22 appearances, no goals), but he produced the goods on numerous occasions for The Toffees. A move back to his former club could help to re-ignite his flagging career.

With his options limited at Old Trafford, I’m sure he’d at least consider the move.

In return, The Red Devils would get their hands on arguably the best right-back in the Premier League. Coleman has pace, crossing ability and goal-scoring nous. He’s dangerous going forward and pretty handy defensively.

At 25-years-old, he’s just about to hit his peak, so you can see why Manchester United might be interested. It’s not like they’re spoiled for choice in the right-back position, is it?

Let’s just hope that Louis Van Gaal is ready to make his move.

What’s your take? Would you swap Marouane Fellaini for Seamus Coleman?

Is this a serious suggestion or are you bored with no news to sell? What an absolute load of garbage…why the hell would Everton take Fellaini back – we saw the best of him, but their game plan will not suit his style of play any more. Coleman has just signed a 5 year contract and is much better than a half decent player. Think up something more realistic and stop copying crap from other pathetic red tops!
