Should Arsenal really be interested in this powerful £15m striker?

Emanuel EmenikeDespite claiming that he was spoiled for choice in the centre-forward department, Arsene Wenger did eventually end up signing Danny Welbeck on deadline day of the summer transfer window. What’s more, the ex-Manchester United striker has settled in well, recording his first professional hat-trick against Galatasaray during a Champions League clash.

But with Olivier Giroud sidelined with a long-term injury and other options providing limited returns (Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell must be struggling for game-time for a reason), it wouldn’t surprise me if Arsene Wenger opted to bolster his forward line-up further. He’ll probably tell the press that he doesn’t need any more strikers, but that doesn’t mean he’s not actively hunting for further options.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal are in the market to sign Fenerbache striker Emmanuel Emenike during the January transfer window.

The Nigerian ace is renowned for his powerful centre-forward play and for his effectiveness in the final third. Last season he made 28 appearances for Fenerbache, scored 12 goals and chipped in with 9 assists. During his time at Spartak Moscow, he scored 21 goals in 42 appearances. At Karabukspor (another Turkish club), he found the back of the net 30 times in 50 games.

When he features, he tends to effect games. Is it any wonder that Arsenal are interested?

The aforementioned source suggests that The Gunners have sent scouts to watch the Nigerian in action. They also claim that a £15m deal could be on the cards.

That’s a lot of money for a player that has no real experience in a top League, but given his goal-scoring record, I’d argue that it’s worth taking the plunge. Given his physicality and his mentality, it looks like he’s a perfect fit for the Premier League. If Arsenal can get their hands on a striker that’s as powerful and effective as Chelsea’s Diego Costa, they’ll be in a much stronger position moving forward.

They could even add a few more trophies to their silverware collection. Here’s hoping that Arsene Wenger looks to roll the dice.

What’s your take? Should The Gunners take a gamble on Emmanuel Emenike?

I am seriously begging all the Arsenal officials that they should ”NOT” on ”ANY” account ”THINK OF” let alone buy this player. My parents are Nigerians and I was born there but was raised in the UK,London since the age of 2years.

This so-called striker has no footballing sense. He is ”OVERLY” selfish. While strikers, ”Good” strikers are naturally selfh, he is ”Overly” and he is truly ”NOT” a good striker. A good example of how bad he is was extremely evident recently playing for his national team Nigeria Vs Sudan. He was missing chances that a school kid couldn’t miss. In the second leg, especially in the second half on a break away, there was a three on one defender situation where he had two fellow strikers either side of him who where free, instead he opted to want to beat that one defender who managed to dispossess him. When he shoots its like a back pass as he tends to use the inside of the boot. He maybe strong but he will be too frustrating to watch. He is basically a worse version of Adebayo. Finally, is checking out a player in the Turkish league really where Arsenal should be scouting from if one is looking for a top class striker? WE SHOULD HAVE LOOKED CLOSER HOME. WE SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT LOIC REMY, PERIOD. FOR 8-10 MILLION, THATS A STEAL.
