Could Liverpool really be the front-runners to sign Marco Reus?

ReusThe Reds made a number of exciting new signings during the summer, but the majority are still adapting to their new surroundings and circumstances. It’s going to take a while for them to gel with their team mates and get used to playing in the Premier League.

This is a shame, since Brendan Rodgers must have been hoping that a few of his new additions would make a major impact at their new club. He lost Luis Suarez in the summer and he needed somebody to step-up. Raheem Sterling aside, it’s not clear who Liverpool’s main man could be going forward.

It could be that The Reds are yet to sign him. Given Liverpool’s start to the season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brendan Rodgers make a few new additions to his squad in upcoming editions of the transfer window, especially if things don’t change over the next few months.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Liverpool ‘are closing in’ on Borussia Dortmund’s superstar winger, Marco Reus. If this is true, it’s very exciting news indeed. The German ace is one of the most talented players of his generation. He’s got it all: pace, technique, intelligence and footballing nous. Most importantly, despite playing out wide, he’s got plenty of goals in him.

It’s easy to see him markedly improving this Liverpool side. He could be that spark of inspiration that Brendan Rodgers lost when he agreed to sell Luis Suarez.

The Metro claim that Reus’s current contractual situation has forced them into looking into potential replacements. Everything’s falling into place for Reus’s Borussia Dortmund exit next summer. At the end of the season, a release clause will trigger in his contract that will let Liverpool sign him for as little as £20m.

For a player of that quality, that fee would be a real bargain. It’s hard to believe that Liverpool could be the front-runners in this deal, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed nonetheless.

What’s your take? Could Liverpool really sign Marco Reus next summer?

Of course, Liverpool could really be the front runners to sign Marco Reus. However, what’s important is, in the eyes of Reus himself, the Merseyside club might as well be last on the list because it is blatantly obvious that he is not going to sign for a pathetically mediocre club like Liverpool.

Suarez was the last superstar to play for Liverpool. REUS is to big a player for a club like Liverpool.
we must accept reality. Stars players will choose clubs which can afford their huge salary and they will also be winning trophies. REMEMBER second place is non-achievement for players who have winning mentality.
