Should Manchester United swipe up this Dutch Duo?

Daley BlindWith the transfer window about to slam shut, The Red Devils seem to be working over time to conclude their summer business. Louis Van Gaal seems to be pulling out all the stops to ensure that he’s got a side that’s capable of competing this season.

Manchester United started the season slowly. Louis Van Gaal has already admitted that it would take a ‘miracle’ for The Red Devils to win the Premier League. He’s probably right, but this hasn’t stopped him from conducting his transfer activity like he’s aiming for football’s biggest prize.

The Red Devils main aim this season should be improving on last year’s offerings, earning Champions League action and getting themselves into a position where they can win silverware next season. If they can manage that, then Van Gaal’s first season will have been a success.

With these lofty aims, every Manchester United transfer is sure to be analysed into the ground. Take, for instance, The Red Devil’s interest in both Daley Blind and Nigel De Jong. These are two good players, but are they exactly what United need at this moment in time?

The Metro claim that United are ‘confident’ of seal a double deal for Ajax star Daley Blind and AC Milan enforcer Nigel De Jong. Looks like Van Gaal is going double Dutch (hyuk! hyuk!).

Whilst I’m a fan of both players, I’m not sure that both of them are absolutely necessary additions. Do Manchester United really need them both?

Before the end of the year, De Jong will be 30-years-old. He’s an experienced option, but I’m not sure he’s a long-term one. Daley Blind, on the other hand, is just 24-years-old. What’s more, he’s versatile. Like Nigel De Jong, he’s a defensive midfielder, but he’s also capable of filling in as a left-back (unlike Nigel De Jong).

In other words, he’d be useful to have around whilst Luke Shaw is convalescing from his injury. He’s younger, more flexible and he’s brimming with confidence. I can’t help but feel that he’s the better option.

Let’s just hope that Louis Van Gaal and the rest of the Manchester United hierarchy spend their money wisely.

What’s your take? Do Manchester United need to sign both Daley Blind and Nigel De Jong?

Absolutely. De Jong is the fantastic midfielder that is required now in man utd. and also Blind is the versatile player. So, please sign both of them before the end of transfer window.

De Jong is a necessary addition for United! We need him even if he plays for one season as far as United are back to the Champions League.
