Manchester United ready £32m bid: will it be enough?

Juan CuadradoManchester United pulled off two massive pieces of business earlier on this summer (Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera) and have since coasted through the rest of the transfer window. Yes, they’ve managed to beat all and sundry during their pre-season campaign, but does Louis Van Gaal really believe that his squad is ready to make a title-charge?

He must have some doubts. Competitive football is a far cry away from friendly football. When everybody’s fit and in form, The Red Devils are likely to come across tougher, better drilled teams ready to put them to the test. Manchester United don’t want to get caught with their pants down here.

That’s why I’d love to see Manchester United make a final splash in the transfer market. It would re-ignite fans belief in their side and set them off on the right foot for the coming season. More precisely, I’d like to see Louis Van Gaal go after some world class talent – somebody good enough to improve the squad and help his side compete for silverware.

This brings me to Manchester United’s interest in long-term target, Juan Cuadrado. The Fiorentina forward has been building his reputation throughout the last 18-24 months in Serie A. He’s really risen to the fore, however, following his breakout displays in this year’s World Cup.

Throughout the competition he made 4 assists and scored 1 goal. It’s little wonder that he has caught the eye of clubs like Manchester United. Indeed, The Metro recently published an article suggesting that United are readying a £32m bid for the player. It looks like things are coming to a head here.

Unfortunately for Louis Van Gaal, it looks like Fiorentina are hoping for £40m in return for the 26-year-old. Now Manchester United need to make a decision: pay up or move on.

I hope they pick the former option. There’s simply no telling how important Juan Cuadrado could be for them next season. His pace, technique and goal-scoring nous could help to put them back on the pathway to glory. Make it happen LVG!

What’s your take? Where does Juan Cuadrado’s future lie? Should Manchester United be interested?
