Mario BalotelliWhen Liverpool played AC Milan a few days back in the Guinness International Champions Cup, the Press asked Brendan Rodgers how he felt about the Italian’s leading man, Mario Balotelli. Here’s what Rodgers had to say (via The Mirror):

“Balotelli is a big talent. I saw that in this time at Inter Milan as a young player and obviously going to Manchester City when we had a real close eye on him there. He’s got all the qualities. He’s 6ft 3ins, he’s quick, his touch is terrific and he can score goals. He went back to Italy to play and he’s still so young.”

“If his focus is right, his concentration is right and he leads the lifestyle of a top player then he can play for any team in the world.”

He’s clearly a fan – he even knows exactly how tall he is. These comments have led The Mirror to beg the following question: Could Brendan Rodgers ‘be about to switch his attentions for a new striker to Mario Balotelli?’ Well, could he?

I certainly hope so. Now that The Reds deal for QPR’s Loic Remy has fallen through, they should be on the look out for other quality options and Balotelli certainly qualifies. Like Brendan says, if the Italian ace gets his head down, works hard and continues to improve, he’ll have his choice of suitors. Why wouldn’t Liverpool be interested?

Since moving to AC Milan two seasons ago, Balotelli has scored 30 goals in 54 appearances. That’s a great return for a young player, especially considering Milan’s overall form during this time period. He wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Luis Suarez, but he’d significantly lessen the burden on Daniel Sturridge.

A few weeks back, Give Me Sport ran an article suggesting that AC Milan may be prepared to sell for as little as £14.5m. That’s a bargain price for a world class striker. If he’s genuinely available for this relatively paltry sum, The Reds would be foolish to turn their nose up at the opportunity.

What’s your take? Should The Reds really be interested in this Italian troublemaker?

Liverpool is used with trouble makers and balotelli is not sturbon than suarez, Balotelli is good & can lead the striking line with sturredge, He’s powerful, faster, skilled & can score more goals. We can bare with his characters so longer as he score the nets.
