AVidalAfter the disappointment of last season, it’s a little surprising that Manchester United haven’t been more forthcoming in the transfer market.

Yes, they’ve brought in players like Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw (who’s out injured for the next four weeks – d’oh!), but surely there’s more work to be done? Surely Louis Van Gaal is aware of the lack of balance within this Manchester United side?

Whilst The Red Devils have had a good pre-season, this shouldn’t serve to disguise the weaknesses prevalent within United’s squad. Van Gaal is on the brink of having a decent, well-rounded team, but he’s not quite there yet.

This brings me to Manchester United’s interest in Arturo Vidal. This is a player of genuine quality – the kind of player who can help The Red Devils to compete for silverware once again. Here’s hoping that Manchester United’s interest is genuine.

It’s a rumour that’s been going on-and-on for a while now, so you’re probably sick of hearing about it. But with The Metro offering a fresh spin on the story, I’d argue that it’s now worthy of discussion.

The source suggests that United have already agreed terms on a £182k-a-week five year deal for Vidal. All they need to do now is agree a fee with his club, Juventus.

Here’s where things get interesting. According to The Metro, Juventus are only willing to sell-up if Manchester United are willing to offer them Nani + cash.

This strikes me as a no brainer for Manchester United. Nani has looked completely disinterested at Old Trafford for the best part of two years now. Trading him in for Arturo Vidal would represent a massive step up (even if Manchester United have to throw in a lot of cash to seal the deal).

Nani will get the opportunity to breathe fresh life into his flagging career, whilst Manchester United will get a fired-up footballer, ready to make an impact in the Premier League. Make it happen Van Gaal!

What’s your take? Should Manchester United look to finally close a deal for Arturo Vidal?
