Ezequiel Lavezzi The Reds have had an interesting summer. Having lost Luis Suarez early on, they’ve brought in a bucket-load of new options who look set to make an impact in the Premier League.

Yet it looks as though Brendan Rodger’s work isn’t quite done. Liverpool continue to get linked to a wealth of new potential recruits.

One player they’ve been linked to pretty strongly is Paris Saint Germain’s fleet-footed forward, Ezequiel Lavezzi. Could this talented Argentine be the perfect tonic to Loic Remy’s failed medical?

In two seasons with PSG, he’s scored 23 goals and made 18 assists, all whilst struggling to hold down a regular place in the first team. Imagine what he could achieve if he were to have the full backing of his coach.

It also strikes me that he’s a good fit for the Premier League. He’s physically tough, he’s lightning quick and he’s a smart cookie.

Moreover, it also looks like he’s available. According to The Metro, Lavezzi recently turned down PSG’s offer of a new contract. The source has described his club as ‘angry’ and willing to ‘offload him’. They also suggest that The Reds are now ‘in pole position’.

Things seem to be developing pretty quickly here. Everything seems to be falling into place for a potential Liverpool deal.

Whilst he’s not good enough to replace somebody as effective as Luis Suarez, he is a fantastic option who deserves another shot at a big club. It’s disappointing to see him wasting away in Ligue 1. Liverpool should provide him with the exit route that he needs.

The Metro are even reporting that The Reds have already made a £17.9m offer for Lavezzi. Let’s just hope that it’s enough to seal the deal – it could be essential to Liverpool replicating last season’s success.

What’s your take? Should The Reds wrap up a deal for Ezequiel Lavezzi? What other options should Brendan Rodgers consider? Will Liverpool recover from losing Luis Suarez?

Forget about his age, age does not cant in front of goal, experience count. LFC needs to sign 2 quality strikers. Sign Lavezzi and take Falcao for loan. Imagine Lavezzi and Falcao in front, Starling right wing, Makovic left wing. I tell you no team can beat Liverpool.
