Paul Pogba JuventusSir Alex Ferguson made very few mistakes whilst in charge at Manchester United, but I think it’s fair to say that the way he managed Paul Pogba was one of them.

The French prodigy spent a season at Old Trafford between 2011 and 2012. He only made 3 appearances for the first team, but he still managed to make quite an impression.

He constantly agitated for more game time and seemed to get on Fergie’s nerves. In the ego show-down, however, there could only be one winner – Pogba was sent packing. He ended up at Juventus where he’s now gone from strength to strength.

Ferguson would have been aware of his talent, but I’m not sure he could have foreseen him getting quite this good. If he had been aware of the extent of his ability, there’s no way that he would have let him slip through his grasp so easily.

Despite only being 21-years-old, he’s now made 89 appearances for Juventus scoring 14 goals. He’s also made his mark at International level and has been one of Les Bleus most impressive players during the World Cup.

Pogba really does have it all: he’s athletic, he’s strong, he’s supremely comfortable on the ball and he’s got an expert reading of the game. He can thread a pass, break up opposition play and find the back of the net. I can’t help but feel that he’s a complete package. And yet he’s only 21-years-old. Imagine just how good he’s going to get over the coming years.

He’s already started to attract the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs. The list of suitors includes: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain. Oh, and according to The Mirror, Manchester United are interested. The source also suggests that Paul Pogba could cost as much as £60m.

First thing’s first: that price-tag! Manchester United were sitting on a goldmine and they let the player go for a fraction of the fee they should have held out for.

It might seem like a retrograde step for Louis Van Gaal to move in for Paul Pogba, but there’s no doubting the young lad’s ability. He’s good enough to help get The Red Devils back on the path to glory, so all other considerations are moot. If Van Gaal manages to close this difficult deal, I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United move back in for Paul Pogba?
