Every season there are two-or-three players in every League who seem to come of age. Over in La Liga, one of those individuals was Real Sociedad’s star winger, Antoine Griezmann.
Sure, the Frenchman was pretty good back in 2012/13. That season he scored 11 goals in 35 performances. Last year, however, he took things to the next level. He was a fixture down the flanks for Sociedad, finding the back of the net 20 times in 49 appearances. That’s an extremely impressive return for a winger.
The Frenchman also put in a fine showing at the World Cup, more or less proving that he’s ready for the big time. I’m sure that few people would be surprised if he were to leave Real Sociedad this summer.
This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Liverpool have ‘sounded out’ the La Liga side over the future of Antoine Griezmann. The source notes that Griezmann’s representatives ‘have made it clear that he will not extend his contract in Spain’. This opens the door for other clubs to pile in and to try and tempt him away.
It looks like Liverpool are right at the front of the queue. Unfortunately for The Reds, The Mirror note that Real Sociedad are holding out for at least £25m in return for talented winger. With Liverpool closing deals left, right and centre at the moment, it’s not clear whether they have enough cash to compete for the player.
But I’d certainly like to see The Reds try and wrap this deal up. Beyond Raheem Sterling, Liverpool lack serious, meaningful threat down the flanks. Bringing somebody in who has Griezmann’s level of quality could prove to be a masterstroke.
It would represent a signal of intent on the part of Liverpool Football Club. It would announce to the rest of the footballing world that The Reds mean business. This kind of deal may even help Brendan Rodger’s side to win the Premier League next season.
Let’s hope so, anyway.
What’s your take? Would Antoine Griezmann be a good option for The Reds?

toure 4m, aspas 6m and Johnson 12m? are you serious about that?
You better stick with playing football manager. 17 players out, 13 players in? Yeah, sure, having less players will help with the extra games we have to play. Finding someone to pay 15m for Skrtel, or 10 for Agger is a big ask, too. Talking Bayern into selling one of their best players for about what they paid for him a year or two ago is another thing. You know what? I have a better idea than sending you back to playing football manager. Wake the f*** up and spend some time in reality, dreamer.
Ha ha. Good comment. Liverpool fans are so thick. 1 good season and back to normal….. I’ll bet my life on it!
No gerrard no hendo no sterling and we need bigger squad and u wont to sell 17 dont have a glue
Liverpool should make haste to sign the young star be4 its too late
liverpool next season wil be incradible
Griezmann is one of my favourite targets, get him! Seems the calliber of most other targets is way below par. Bony? Lambert? in return for Suarez leaving. We need some top shelf players like our competition is signing: Vidal, Sanchez, Costa with more top targets on rumour.
Vidal??? Ha ha don’t forget, your only Liverpool not Man U real barca or bayern. Have a go for cattermole hed fit perfect with lambert ha ha ha
pls let BR get him fast we need griezman well well he is a great player, allow him to be amoung of great party .up liverpool…….ynwa…

Sturridge, Hendo, Gerrard, Sterling, and Coutinho, definitely must in the 1st team next season. Let the new players adapt to them and leave BR the rest 🙂
