OrigiHaving missed out on Alexis Sanchez, Liverpool still need to secure a new centre-forward in this summer’s transfer market. Who they bring in could come to make or break their next 12 months. It could lead them on to success, or it could scupper their chances of silverware.

In this regard, I can’t help but feel that Alexis Sanchez is a big loss. He would have been a real presence upfront for The Reds. But there are, as they say, plenty of other fish in the sea. Let’s just hope that Brendan Rodgers has his fishing rod at the ready.

One of the other centre-forwards that Liverpool have been linked to is Belgium World Cup star, Divock Origi. The youngster with a funky name has been making waves throughout Europe over the last year or so and could well prove to be an excellent addition to The Reds’ squad.

Origi made 35 appearances for Lille last season and found the back of the net 6 times. That’s not a great return, but it’s worth noting that he’s only 19-years-old. He’s got plenty of developing still to do, but he’s already good enough to go to the World Cup and receive good reviews. That’s why Brendan Rodgers is right to keep tabs on him.

The Mirror suggests that Liverpool are ‘confident’ of wrapping up a £9.8m deal and note that the player will arrive at a decision regarding his future over the next fortnight. They carry the following quotes from player himself:

“I myself am still thinking about it. It is true that there are offers from all over Europe. Now I have to look carefully where I will grow as a player and as a person. I think there will be clearer. Within two weeks of the most.”

At Liverpool, he’d be playing alongside some of the best attacking players in Europe, in front of a midfield that’s sure to create chances. At this stage in his career, heading to Anfield just seems to make sense. Let’s just hope that he feels the same way.

What’s your take? Will The Reds rue missing out on Alexis Sanchez? Is Divock Origi a good alternative?

I though Suarez moved to Barcelona, so who are those best attacking players in Europe that your talking about. I mean that even broke in the top 20 strikers in Europe…. If your referring to someone who manage to score the same amount of goals as him in the World Cup and who older then him, don’t see that been an attractive prospect to him
