Can Liverpool REALLY compete for this £32m La Liga superstar?

SanchezOne of the most exciting players that Liverpool have been linked to this summer is Barcelona’s star winger/striker, Alexis Sanchez. Now that the Chilean’s World Cup excursion is over, The Reds are in a position to try and close this deal. But can Brendan Rodgers really tempt Sanchez to join the exciting project he’s conjured up at Liverpool?

Whilst he’s pulled off some exciting deals in the past, I think it’s fair to say that a Liverpool deal for Alexis Sanchez would be his biggest yet. It’s the kind of deal that would stand The Reds in extremely good stead next season.

And as you might expect, he won’t come cheap. Whilst Barcelona seem to be somewhat apathetic about their player’s future (what else can explain all the rumours that keep popping up?), they don’t seem to be willing to let him go on the cheap.

In fact, The Mirror claim that Barca have ‘slapped a £32m price-tag’ on Sanchez. This kind of figure may well be high enough to price Liverpool out of a potential deal.

But I hope that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t give up. Sanchez is one of the few players out there who is capable of improving Liverpool’s forward line-up.

Last season Sanchez made 54 appearances for Barcelona, scored 21 goals and made 17 assists. He’s clearly a very effective individual. What’s more he’s versatile – he can play as a centre-forward or down the flanks. In other words, he won’t struggle to break into the Liverpool first team.

And at 25-years-old, he’s about to enter the best years of his footballing career. Now’s the right time for Liverpool to snap him up. He’s clearly worthy of his mammoth price-tag – Brendan Rodgers just needs to find a way to get all the cash together.

There’s a lot of talk about Luis Suarez potentially moving on this summer. Whilst that would be a big blow for Liverpool FC, signing a superstar like Alexis Sanchez would certainly help to deal with the transition. Let’s just hope that there’s something to these rumours.

What’s your take? Can The Reds really afford to compete for this Barcelona superstar?

Looks like he prefers Arsenal. Not for any high minded footballing reasons. But because HE WOULD LIKE TO LIVE IN LONDON!! Pathetic!

  • Mark says:

He wants arsenal coz his ego has been bruised by being used as a bargaining chip by barca and coz suarez shoes are too big for him.he has the talent but would rather opt for arsenal coz they play for fourth only each season.
