Why Arsenal HAVE to snap up this £8m bargain:

Loic RemyWhat Arsenal achieved last season with only one viable centre-forward option is quite remarkable. To have clung on for so long at the top of the Premier League and to have won the FA Cup with Olivier Giroud leading the Arsenal line (more or less alone) is very impressive indeed.

Of course, it begs the question: why didn’t Arsene Wenger bring somebody in during the January transfer window? If he had, perhaps Arsenal could have remained at the top of the Premier League table for even longer.

Luckily, he’ll get another opportunity to right this wrong during the summer transfer window. Fans will have their fingers crossed that he brings in a footballer that’s more accustomed to playing the Arsenal way.

Olivier Giroud isn’t a bad option, but he’s too slow, he’s technically lacking (although his flicks in and around the penalty area are nice) and he doesn’t score enough long-range efforts.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Arsenal are now on ‘red alert’ after Harry Redknapp revealed that Loic Remy could be available for as little as £8m. That’s a relative bargain given Remy’s Premier League prowess.

Last season the Frenchman scored 14 goals in 27 appearances. What’s even more impressive is that he pulled off this feat within a lacklustre Newcastle United side. Now that his loan move is over, he’ll head back to Queens Park Rangers and it’s up to Harry Redknapp to decide his future.

Redknapp has been typically forthcoming about Remy. Check out these quotes:

“I don’t see (Loic) Remy wanting to come back and play. He’s talking about playing Champions League somewhere. I wouldn’t know what he’ll do, but I think he’s got a buy-out clause which is at a reasonable level.”

Arsenal could certainly offer him Champions League football. I also have little doubt that Loic Remy would soon become a first team regular at The Emirates. Given that he’d cost as little as £8m, it doesn’t represent too much of a gamble on Arsenal’s part. They may even have enough money left over to bring in another centre-forward option.

Then The Gunners really would be cooking on gas.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal finally snap up Loic Remy?

Arsene wenger should quicklysign loic Remy before another club hijack his deal with arsenal before the world cup.

as a NUFC fan I would like to say “Good luck” to Loic Remy for the future. Should Arsenal sign him ? yes, as a squad rotational player. Why, do I say this, because he missed a third of our games this season through injury, which seems to be the case through his career. Handled/played right , which is something we don’t have the luxury to do at Newcastle, then he will be an excellent signing, but don’t expect him to play week in, week out.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!! Wenger’s old failure – price before quality – who the hell wants Remy – but of course he is French so he HAS TO BE GOOD in the old coots eyes! At best Remy will play every second game part time (hopefully) or we are buying him to lend him to some other club which is a Wenger norm…. he is not in the Arsenal league/class.

    Get us a real striker!!!!
